East Timor is generally not known for its soccer prowess, but a soccer team from the newly-minted nation may very well boast the most distinguished goalie in the world.

East Timorese President Xanana Gusmao will visit South Korea Saturday as the head of a 20-member soccer delegation. Mr. Gusmao is to play goalkeeper in a friendly match with a local university team on Sunday in Suncheon City, some 415 kilometers south of Seoul.

The event is part of a two-day peace festival organized by local non-governmental organizations. The organizers also plan to donate 340 thousand dollars to East Timor.

The tiny island nation in Southeast Asia won independence from Indonesia in 2002 after more than two decades of bloody struggle.
