The main opposition Grand National party says the government must seek national consensus on the planned relocation of the country's administrative capital.

Emerging from a meeting of party officials, GNP Floor Leader Kim Duk-ryong said the administrative capital blueprint needs to be put to discussion in order to draw public consensus since the plan is in effect the relocation of the entire captial, not just some central government offices.

GNP chief policy maker Lee Kang-doo said although his party stands committed to its earlier support for the transfer of the administrative capital, the government must fully inform the people on how it plans to raise the 'astronomical' funds needed for the move.
