Ruling People Power Party(PPP) Chairman Kim Gi-hyeon has proposed holding a meeting with main opposition Democratic Party(DP) chief Lee Jae-myung.
Kim made the offer on Sunday at the start of a meeting of the PPP, the government and the presidential office, proposing that the chiefs of the ruling and opposition parties should hold talks on cooperation on people’s livelihoods.
The PPP chair said that he will meet with the DP chair anytime, anywhere, regardless of format or formality, adding that he will resolve any problem and build trust through candid talks.
Stressing the need to demonstrate the politics of hope for the future beyond factions as well as the politics of coexistence for the people beyond ideology, Kim said that he intends to sincerely consult with the DP to ensure that the National Assembly can overcome political strife to operate productively through cooperation.
The leaders of the two parties have not met since March, when Kim paid a courtesy visit to Lee after being elected as the PPP chair.
