The main opposition Democratic Party(DP) counter-proposed a three-way meeting with President Yoon Suk Yeol and ruling People Power Party(PPP) leader Kim Gi-hyeon after the latter suggested a meeting with the DP chief on public livelihoods.

DP chief spokesperson Kwon Chil-seung said on Monday that the main opposition proposes three-way participation as it believes the time has come for the president to actively pursue improvement in livelihoods and the restoration of politics.

Accusing the government and the PPP of disregarding the opposition despite worsening conditions in the nation, the spokesperson said the DP believes that politics must be restored.

As for the timing of the meeting, he said working-level discussions will need to take place.
