South Korea and Russia will launch joint drills for counter-terrorism in the East Sea from Wednesday.

The Russian Federal Security Service announced Friday that some 250 officers from the two countries will take part in the drill, which will involve a joint response to a simulated hijacking of ships by terrorists on the high seas.

South Korea plans to mobilize six naval vessels and two helicopters for the drill.
