A North Korean delegation is in Seoul for an international forum marking the fourth anniversary of the historic inter-Korean summit in 2000.

Led by Ri Jong-hyok, vice chairman of the North's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, the seven-member delegation arrived in Seoul Monday afternoon on a chartered North Korean flight via a direct route over the West Sea.

The North Korean officials paid a courtesy call on South Korea's former president, Kim Dae-jung, who held the landmark summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il in Pyongyang four years ago.

The visit comes in the wake of efforts by the two Koreas to ease military tensions and build confidence on the Korean Peninsula, despite the North's ongoing nuclear standoff.

It is the first time for the former president to meet North Korean officials since he stepped down from office last year.

Meanwhile, a separate delegation of more than one hundred North Koreans arrived in Incheon, west of Seoul Monday for separate events marking the fourth anniversary of the summit.
