Roh: Comprehensive Plan in Making for Possible Resolution of N. Korea Nuke Issue

President Roh Moo-hyun says his government is drawing up a comprehensive and substantial cooperation proposal to make to North Korea after a possible resolution to its nuclear standoff.

Roh made the remarks Tuesday during a congratulatory speech at an international forum marking the fourth anniversary of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration.

He said inter-Korean cooperation would become more active once the North's nuclear standoff is resolved. Roh added that the South would actively cooperate with the North to rebuild its infrastructure and would work with the international community to help boost the North's industrial production ability and revitalize its moribund economy.

Roh said the joint declaration in 2000 had marked a historic turning point on the Korean Peninsula, thawing decades of Cold War conflict between the two Koreas by promoting a mood of reconciliation and cooperation.
