A meeting between foreign ministers of South and North Korea may take place on the sidelines of an Asian regional security forum later this month in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta.
During a regular briefing session on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon said that the Seoul government is working overseas diplomatic channels to arrange a possible meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Baek Nam-sun.
As for a U.S. plan to withdraw troops from South Korea, Ban said South Korea and the United States would likely resume negotiations on the matter immediately after the conclusion of the June 23rd to 25th six-way nuclear talks.
Ban also expressed hope for a substantial progress in the multilateral nuclear talks aimed at resolving the North Korean nuclear issue.
