After two days of celebrations marking the fourth anniversary of the June 2000 South-North summit, representatives of South and North Koreans bid farewell to one another waving the Korean Peninsula flags on Wednesday.

Thousands of South and North Koreans, including ethnic Koreans from overseas, joined the festival held at the western port city of Incheon in a rare display of reconciliation and brotherhood.

The celebrations included a wide array of cultural, sports and other events, including a 6-kilometer walkathon involving some 3,000 participants.

The visiting North Korean delegation is scheduled to return home Thursday morning, after touring several historic sites on Ganghwa Island, west of Seoul.
