A team of officials from the New York-based credit rater, Standard & Poor's, has arrived in Seoul for a three-day visit.

The delegation is holding a series of meeting with South Korean economic officials to assess the Korean economy prior to releasing its sovereign credit ratings.

On Wednesday, the S&P's evaluation team met with officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, one of two major umbrella labor unions.

The S&P delegation is to release the results of their assessment sometime next month or in August.
