Chung Mong-Joon to Head East Asian Football Federation

Chung Mong-joon, head of the Korea Football Association (KFA), has been appointed chairman of the East Asian Football Federation.

The Korea Football Association said Thursday Chung will assume the rotating leadership at the federation's general meeting set to open in Tokyo Saturday.

Chung will lead the federation until June 2006.

During his term, South Korea will host the second East Asian Football Federation Cup in 2005.

The East Asian Football Federation was founded in 2002 for the development and unity of East Asian football. The group counts nine countries among its members, including South Korea, China and Japan.
