Job Growth Slows to 277,000 in November

South Korea added fewer than 300-thousand jobs in November as growth slowed for the first time in four months.

According to Statistics Korea on Wednesday, the number of employed people stood at 28 million-698-thousand last month, up 277-thousand on-year but falling below 300-thousand for the first time in four months since August.

The employment rate for those aged 15 and older rose by zero-point-four percentage points on-year to reach 63-point-one percent. The rate for those aged 15 to 64 also rose by zero-point-six percentage points on-year to 69-point-six percent.

The number of jobless people reached 676-thousand in November, up eleven-thousand from a year earlier to post the first increase in 32 months since March 2021.

The unemployment rate stood at two-point-three percent last month, unchanged from a year earlier.
