The tech-heavy KOSDAQ, meanwhile, shed two-point-28 points, or zero-point-27 percent, to close at 838-point-31.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened one-point-one won against the U.S. dollar, closing the day at one-thousand-296-point-five won.
