Dutchman Bonfrere to Head S. Korea's Soccer Team

Jo Bonfrere of the Netherlands has been named as the new head coach of South Korea's national soccer team.

The nation's soccer governing body, the Korea Football Association (KFA) announced Friday that a provisional contract was signed on Thursday with the Dutch coach, but no other details, including his salary, were disclosed.

The Dutchman is scheduled to come to Seoul on June 23rd to take over the national soccer team.

Under the contract, Bonfrere is to head the Korean team until the end of the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The 58-year-old Dutchman was a former Olympic team player for his homeland and also coached Nigeria to a gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
