The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also rose, gaining 12-point-36 points, or one-point-43 percent, closing at 878-point-93.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened 12-point-four won against the U.S. dollar, closing at one-thousand-300-point-four won.
