Six-way Nuke Talks Kick off in Beijing

Negotiators from the two Koreas and the U.S. are sitting down with diplomats from China, Japan and Russia in yet another round of six-way nuclear talks.

The third round of closed-door nuclear talks opened at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on Wednesday afternoon.

No details of the first-day discussions were disclosed, but a South Korean delegate said before the opening of the talks that the discussions would focus on
a freeze-for-compensation deal.

Delegates will have to hammer out a detailed timeline on implementing the proposed 'freeze for compensation' deal, in which North Korea "freezes" its nuclear facilities in return for economic aid.

The talks will also discuss major elements involved in the nuclear freeze its scope and period, method of verification and starting date.
