U.S. Says CVID Ultimate Goal of 6-Way Talks

U.S. State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher has reaffirmed that the United States' ultimate goal at the third round of six-way talks is a complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement of North Korea's nuclear weapons program, also known as the CVID.
Boucher's remarks seem to come as a response to media reports that the United States has allegedly decided to refrain from using the term CVID at the high-level discussions.
The spokesman also said he cannot recall on how many occasions the American delegation used the term, but repeated that the United States would push for the CVID.
Regarding North Korea's demand for two million kilowatts of power per year in energy aid in return for freezing its nuclear weapons program, Boucher said the United States would earnestly consider all issues discussed at the Beijing talks.
Boucher also said the proposals United States has made to North Korea to resolve the nuclear issue were supported by other members of the six-nation group.
The spokesman also expressed hope that North Korea would consider the proposals in earnest.
