North Korea has reportedly said that it will not make, export or test nuclear weapons any more.
Diplomatic sources in Beijing said North Korea's chief delegate, Kim Gye-kwan, made the comment during Thursday's high-level nuclear talks in the Chinese capital. But the sources were quick to add Friday that it is hard to determine by the comment whether the North already possesses nuclear weapons.
According to sources, the U.S. made it clear that it would not provide aid to North Korea even in the event that Pyongyang freezes its nuclear weapons programs. However, the American delegation said it would not oppose the rendering of such support from other countries such as South Korea, China, Japan and Russia.
North Korea has asked for two million kilowatts of power per year in energy aid in return for freezing its nuclear weapons programs.
