The funeral service for slain South Korean hostage Kim Sun-il has been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday.
The organizing committee for Kim's funeral service, headed by Kim's elder brother Jin-kook, said Sunday that the service will be held at Sajik Stadium in Busan on Wednesday after a four-day mourning period.
The funeral committee made no other announcements other than to say that a detailed funeral schedule would be forthcoming.
Earlier reports said Kim's family wanted a Christian-style family funeral, declining civic groups' suggestion for a public funeral.
Meanwhile, family representatives and government officials met for two hours Sunday to discuss the government's compensation for the bereaved family, but the talks ended without any agreements.
The two sides are in disagreement over the amount of compensation and other details.
The government earlier said it would provide the maximum compensation to the bereaved family out of utmost respect for the murdered hostage.
