Negotiations on compensation for family members of Kim Sun-il have bogged down, possibly postponing funeral proceedings for the victim, who was slain by Iraqi militants last week. Family members and their supporters said in a news conference Monday in the city of Busan that they have yet to agree with the government on a burial site for Kim and on compensation for his death. The family has requested that Kim be buried at the National Cemetery in light of the fact that he had died for the sake of national interests. But the government is saying that such an interment isn't possible under current laws. The family members said if the government did not accept their request, they would consider expanding the funeral into a public event with the assistance of local civic groups.
