Koreas' Foreign Ministers to Hold Talks July 1

South and North Koreas' Foreign Ministers will meet Thursday in Jakarta, Indonesia to discuss bilateral issues. This is the second meeting of the two Koreas' foreign ministers, following their talks in 2002. South Korea's Foreign Ministry announced Monday that Minister Ban Ki-moon and his North Korean counterpart Paek Nam-sun are to meet in Jakarta on the sidelines of an annual meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum. According to the Ministry, the two ministers will discuss the North's nuclear issues and ways to realize inter-Korean cooperation on the global stage. North Korea's Foreign Minister has already departed for Jakarta to attend the 11th round of the ASEAN Regional Forum. The ASEAN Regional Forum is the principal forum for security dialogue in Asia. Its membership stands at 23 countries, including members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, South and North Korea, the United States, Japan and Australia.
