Officials of the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI) plan to summon for questioning on Thursday the employer of slain South Korean hostage Kim Sun-il.
Kim Chun-ho, president of Gana General Trading Company, arrived in South Korea on Wednesday to face questions by investigators. He is expected to be grilled on why he did not immediately report his employee's disappearance and abduction to Korean diplomats in Iraq. State auditors will also question the Gana president on whether the U.S. military stationed in the Gulf nation knew about Kim Sun-il's abduction.
Investigators plan to re-summon Kim Chun-ho in the event new facts emerge from an investigation by a team of BAI inspectors that are currently conducting an on-site inspection in Jordan.
Meanwhile, early Thursday morning, the Gana president attempted to visit the home of his slain employee in the port city of Busan but his visit was turned down by Kim's bereaved family members. Kim's family cited their exhaustion from the previous day during which funeral services were held for the 33-year-old Kim Sun-il.
After failing to meet with Kim's family, Kim Chun-ho visited Yeongnak Cemetery, where his employee was laid to rest on Wednesday.
