KMA Issues Typhoon Warning as Mindulle Approaches Peninsula

A strong typhoon is approaching the Korean Peninsula from the western coast of Taiwan.

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a preliminary typhoon alert Saturday for Cheju Island and southern coastal areas.

The KMA said it will raise the alert level later in the day for the southern areas.

A KMA official forecast that Typhoon Mindulle will bring as much as 400 millimeters of rain over the weekend and urged the nation to take precautions against possible damage.

Typhoon Mindulle meaning dandelion in Korean is the second major tropical storm to approach the nation this summer.
