In Pyongyang, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with North Korean Foreign Minister Paek Nam-sun on Sunday.
Reports quoted Lavrov as saying high-level Russian-North Korean relations had witnessed significant progress after the leaders of the two countries held three rounds of summits.
Lavrov also said that Sergei Mironov, chairman of the Federation Council of Russia's Federal Assembly, will visit Pyongyang in September.
Lavrov arrived in Pyongyang on Sunday after an overnight stop in Seoul on Saturday.
