A team of investigators from the Board of Audit and Inspection has opened its second day of investigations into the recent abduction and beheading of Kim Sun-il by Muslim militants.
The state auditors have so far focused their probe on the exact time frame that the South Korean Embassy became aware of Kim's abduction.
The auditors are also examining the contents of documents exchanged between the South Korean Embassy in Baghdad and the Foreign Ministry in Seoul following Kim's abduction.
The auditors had originally planned on questioning an Iraqi driver who had been kidnapped along with Kim but was later released, as well as an Iraqi lawyer who had negotiated with Kim's captors.
However, the inspectors have shown apprehension over conducting investigations on the two locals outside the South Korean Embassy, due to adverse security conditions.
