Hyundai Motor Co. is close to achieving a three-percent share in the American auto market.

According to industry sources, Hyundai Motor sold a monthly record of 41 thousand vehicles in the United States last month for a 2.9 percent share in the American market.

The figure is also 18.8 percent higher than the same period last year and 2.5 percent higher than the previous month.

Aggregate sales from January to June posted 205 thousand units, a record half-yearly figure.

A Hyundai Motor official said that with the release of the company's new models - the Tucson and the NF Sonata - into the U.S. market, it would achieve its goal of three-percent market share by early next year.
