South Korea is pushing for another round of inter-Korean Defense Ministers talks to further ease military tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

The Defense Ministry reported the plan to the National Assembly Defense Committee on Wednesday.

Defense Ministers of South and North Korea met in September 2000 for the first time.

The ministry also said it plans to seek the regularization of the general-level ministerial military talks with the North which have recently helped to alleviate tensions between the two sides.

After a series of mid- and high-level military talks in recent months, South and North Korea are now in the process of dismantling propaganda facilities along their shared border.

Navies of the sides have also opened military hotlines to prevent accidental naval clashes at the western sea border.
