Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun says Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will likely visit South Korea later this month for a summit with President Roh Moo-hyun.

The daily said Thursday that Seoul and Tokyo are negotiating details to arrange a two-day Koizumi visit to South Korea for around July 22nd. The reports said the date may change, however, depending on the results of Japan's parliamentary election, slated for Sunday.

The paper said that North Korea's nuclear standoff and other issues of mutual concern are likely to top the agenda of the Roh-Koizumi summit.

The reports added that the Japanese premier is expected to explain the results of his summit in May with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and discuss with Roh ways to persuade Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear weapons development program in return for economic incentives.
