The Korea National Oil Corporation is currently carrying out a test production of natural gas in the East Sea.

The national oil company announced Sunday that it had begun transporting natural gas to its land terminal from the Donghae No.1 gas field, located 58 kilometers off the coast near the industrial city of Ulsan.

The national oil firm is planning to commercially supply the natural gas from September after concluding test-production by next month.

The gas deposits of the Donghae No.1 gas field, which was discovered in 1998, amount to some 5 million tons. The national oil company said that over the next 15 years, it would produce 300,000 to 400,000 tons of gas annually, forecasting development profits would amount to some 350 million dollars.
