Kyodo News Agency: Roh-Koizumi Summit to be Held in Jeju Island July 21-22

Japan's Kyodo News Agency says President Roh Moo-hyun and Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will meet in South Korea next week.

Quoting a diplomatic source, the paper said Monday that the two leaders will meet in the southern resort island of Jeju for two days of talks beginning next Wednesday.

The daily forecast that the Roh-Koizumi summit would focus on building a future-oriented bilateral relationship ahead of next year's 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties.

Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon said the standoff over North Korea's nuclear ambitions will top the agenda at the South Korea-Japan summit.

The summit meeting is their second in 13 months since Pres. Roh visited Tokyo in June last year.
