North Korea has vowed to keep its peaceful nuclear programs in place even after an envisioned dismantlement of its nuclear weapons program.

A spokesman of the North Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued through the official Korean Central News Agency Wednesday that "peaceful nuclear programs would not be included" in the process of a prospective freeze of Pyongyang's atomic facilities.

The spokesman added that the North would abandon its nuclear arms programs once Washington drops what Pyongyang calls hostile policies against North Korea.

As for the issue of international monitoring of the North's nuclear facilities, the spokesman said it's very illogical to argue about inspection within the early stages of a potential nuclear freeze.
