35th Int'l Physics Olympiad Kicks off in Pohang

Young masterminds from around the world have gathered in the southeastern port city of Pohang to take part in an annual Olympiad for physics.
President Roh Moo-hyun was among some 700 people on hand at the opening ceremony of the 35th International Physics Olympiad Friday.
In a welcoming speech, Roh described the 21st century as an era where scientists lead global changes and development. The president also asked the contestants to contribute their skills and endless research into establishing world peace and prosperity.
The Olympiad will be held until July 23rd.
