The U.S. State Department has accepted a request by North Korea to send its envoys to Washington to participate in a forum slated to begin Tuesday.

North Korea's Ambassador to the U.N. Park Gil-yon and his deputy Han Song-ryol is looking to participate in the forum on security issues on the Korean peninsula.

It will the first time for North Korean officials to enter Washington as the U.S. has so far barred such visits to its capital city, although it places no such restrictions for all other regions in the country.
