The tropical night phenomenon has continued in Seoul for 28 days in a row, setting a fresh record for the longest streak of tropical nights in the city's modern history.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) on Sunday, Seoul saw its 28th consecutive tropical night between Saturday and Sunday with the lowest temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. The streak began on July 21.

The fresh record comes just a day after the city shattered the record for the longest streak of tropical nights.

The southeastern port city of Busan also recorded its 24th consecutive tropical night with the lowest temperature of 26-point-one degrees Celsius. The streak, which began on July 25, is the longest since modern weather monitoring started in the city in 1904.

A tropical night occurs when the minimum temperature remains above 25 degrees Celsius from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following day.
