Visiting U.S. arms control official John Bolton said Wednesday that the U.S. is hoping to resolve North Korea's nuclear standoff before the American presidential election in November. America's under secretary of state for arms control and international security delivered a lecture Wednesday morning in Seoul on the denuclearization of North Korea and lessons to be learned from Libya's renouncement of weapons of mass destruction. During the lecture, Bolton said that the U.S. had offered specific proposals to the North in the third round of six-party atomic talks last month, reflecting Washington's strong desire to settle the nuclear problem as soon as possible. Earlier on Tuesday in a meeting with Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon, Bolton said that Libya's renunciation of weapons of mass destruction offers a good example of how to settle the North Korean nuclear dispute.
