Exports Rise 24.6% in First 10 Days of September

Exports rose by about 25 percent year over year in the first ten days of September.

According to preliminary data from the Korea Customs Service on Wednesday, the country’s outbound shipments exceeded 18-point-57 billion U.S. dollars during the cited period, 24-point-six percent more than a year earlier.

Average daily exports increased by 16-point-three percent, with the number of working days increasing by half a day from a year ago to seven and a half days.  

Exports of semiconductors and ships jumped 38-point-eight percent and 170 percent, respectively, while shipments of automobiles rose 12-point-eight percent.

Exports to China grew 16-point-three percent, while exports to the United States increased 24-point-six percent.

Imports rose eleven-point-three percent year over year to 18-point-three billion dollars during the period, resulting in a trade surplus of 222 million dollars.
