President Yoon Suk Yeol plans to address the South Korean people and hold a press conference Thursday to discuss the future direction of state affairs.

The presidential office said Monday that the press conference is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Thursday.

An official at the top office said the president will brief the public on the administration’s achievements as he reaches the halfway mark in his five-year term, then outline its future policy direction.

Yoon is expected to answer questions about a wide range of issues, including his past interactions with self-proclaimed power broker Myung Tae-kyun and various allegations against first lady Kim Keon-hee.

Originally set to take place after Yoon’s overseas trip in mid-November, the press event was apparently rescheduled after the president’s approval rating plunged below the 20-percent mark.
