South Korean e-commerce giant Coupang has posted an operating profit of nearly 150 billion won, or around 108 million U.S. dollars, after attaining record-high sales of ten-point-seven trillion won for the third quarter.

According to the platform’s parent company, Coupang, Inc., on Wednesday, the South Korean subsidiary recorded 148-point-one billion won in operating profit in the July-September period, up 29 percent from a year earlier.

Coupang made a turnaround after posting an operating loss of 34-point-two billion won in the second quarter, reflecting an estimated penalty of 163 billion won from the Fair Trade Commission for manipulating product rankings.

As a result, the cumulative operating profit for the first nine months of this year fell 62 percent on-year to 167 billion won.

The company said new business categories like fulfillment and logistics, in which Coupang manages storage, inventory and delivery for small partner companies, and the new luxury offering R.Lux, helped raise the operating profit.
