The websites of the nation’s courts began suffering disconnection from Thursday afternoon.
The National Court Administration has taken steps to preemptively block access to such websites after coming across signs of attacks that are suspected of being distributed denial-of-service(DDoS) attacks.
A DDoS attack increases internet traffic beyond the extent that the target’s servers can handle, blocking access for legitimate users.
Currently, users from the outside are unable to access the courts’ websites that offer public services, including searching for cases.
However, the Electronic Case Filing System, courts’ internal networks and the E-Registry System are all said to be operating normally.
No direct damage is said to have been reported on trials or judicial functions.
The loss of connection comes two days after a number of government agencies, including the defense ministry, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the ruling People Power Party suffered DDoS attacks.
The science ministry had presumed that a pro-Russian hacking group to be behind the attacks.
