Ruling People Power Party(PPP) Chairman Han Dong-hoon has urged President Yoon Suk Yeol to carry out his recent pledges quickly, and in a manner that meets the public’s expectations.
The PPP chair addressed the president in a social media post on Friday, a day after Yoon apologized to the public in a televised news conference for snowballing controversies involving first lady Kim Keon-hee.
Han said Yoon has promised to conduct a personnel sweep, halt the first lady’s public activities, and appoint a special inspector without preconditions.
What’s important now, Han continued, is for the president to follow through quickly with concrete actions that satisfy public expectations.
The PPP chair said the ruling party will enhance communication with the presidential office to support those efforts, adding that the party will first push for the appointment of a special inspector to look for evidence of corruption among the president’s family members.
