An annual shopping event officially kicks off Saturday, bringing discounts on food, clothing and other products.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, an opening ceremony for Korea Sale FESTA took place Friday afternoon in Seoul’s Myeongdong area.

While discounts for automobiles and home appliances began November 1, discounts will now apply to food products, clothing, and other items at hypermarkets and department stores, as well as culture and leisure goods and services.

The ministry said online platforms selling lodging, entertainment and delivery services are also set to participate this year.
