A special counsel bill aimed at investigating various allegations surrounding First Lady Kim Keon-hee was passed at the National Assembly's legislation and judiciary committee meeting on Friday.

The bill was passed unilaterally at the parliamentary judiciary subcommittee by members of the opposition after the ruling People Power Party(PPP) boycotted the vote in protest of the bill.

The main opposition Democratic Party(DP) announced plans to table the special counsel bill at a plenary session on November 14.

The PPP have criticized the DP for unilaterally pushing ahead with the special counsel bill against the first lady, calling it "unconstitutional."

President Yoon Suk Yeol has twice vetoed special counsel bills against his wife.
