Myung Tae-kyun, a self-proclaimed political consultant and a key figure in a high-profile scandal involving the president and first lady, appeared for questioning for the second consecutive day.
Prior to interrogation by the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office on Saturday, Myung once again denied allegations linking him to the first lady or President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Myung urged the prosecution to focus on alleged violation of the Political Funds Act by the campaign accountant of former ruling People Power Party(PPP) Rep. Kim Young-sun, claiming that questions from Friday were centered on groundless reporting by the media.
Myung is accused of accepting 90 million won, or about 64-thousand U.S. dollars, from the former PPP lawmaker in return for brokering her election nomination. But he has vehemently denied such allegation, claiming that he had simply lent her the money.
The former PPP lawmaker's campaign accountant, Kang Hye-kyung, who has raised suspicions that the first lady and Myung interfered in nominations, accused Myung of attempting to cover up the alleged influence-peddling and election rigging.
