The number of female executives in the country's top 100 companies has reached a record high.

According to global headhunting firm Unico Search on Monday, the number of female executives in South Korea's top 100 companies reached 463 this year, up five-point-five percent, or 24 from last year.

The latest statistics mark a huge contrast compared to 2004, when just 13 female executives worked in the top 100 companies, and 106 in 2014.

However, the proportion of female executives remains low at six-point-three percent.

Samsung Electronics has the highest number of female executives with 81, followed by CJ CheilJedang and Naver with 26 each.
