Police have requested arrest warrants for six members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU) who took part in a large protest in downtown Seoul on Saturday urging President Yoon Suk Yeol to step down.

The police said Monday that they detained eleven people on Saturday and asked the Central District Prosecutors’ Office to issue the warrants for six.

The detainees are said to have blocked Sejong-daero, assaulted police officers, crossed police lines, and refused to comply with police orders to disperse.

They could face charges under the Assembly and Demonstration Act.

The KCTU held a press conference in front of the National Police Agency on Monday demanding the release of the detainees.
