Media outlets in Japan have reported that talks are underway for a summit between Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and President Yoon Suk Yeol on the margins of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) Summit in Peru.

Japan’s Kyodo News said the two sides are discussing details of the potential meeting, tentatively set for Saturday, as the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting is set to run for two days starting Friday.

Yoon and Ishiba previously met on the sidelines of regional forums in Laos on October 10, just nine days after the Japanese leader took office.

Kyodo said efforts are taking place to arrange trilateral talks in Lima for the leaders of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan.

It would be the first such three-way meeting since Ishiba took office.
