The Korea Football Association(KFA) has revised its regulations on selecting the head coach of the national football team in a bid to boost the competitiveness and efficiency in operating the team.

Following a meeting of its board of directors in Seoul on Tuesday, the association said that in order to appoint the leader of a certain football club as the head coach of the national team, the KFA must first consult with the chairperson of the said football club.

Under existing rules, the KFA notifies the football club chair of its appointment of head coach and the club chair must abide by the association’s decision.

The latest revision comes after the KFA’s rules faced harsh criticism in the process of appointing Hong Myung-bo as head coach of the men’s national football team.
