Korean Sports and Olympic Committee(KSOC) President Lee Kee-heung will be able to run for a third term.

The committee’s Commission for Fair Play in Sport held a full session in Seoul on Tuesday and approved Lee’s request to run for another term.

As a result, Lee will take part in the elections on January 14 to elect the committee’s 42nd president.

Top officials of the KSOC, including the president, can serve a second term and in order to serve a third term they must undergo deliberations of the Commission for Fair Play in Sport.

The move comes a day after the sports ministry informed Lee of his suspension from duty due to allegations of misconduct.

Lee, on Tuesday, filed a suit seeking the suspension of the ministry’s notification and requested an injunction to stop the enforcement of his duty suspension.
