President Yoon Suk Yeol is set to depart Thursday for an eight-day, five-night trip to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) summit in Peru and the Group of 20(G-20) summit in Brazil.

The presidential office said Thursday that President Yoon will hold a trilateral summit with U.S. President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Friday during the trip.

The top office is also arranging separate bilateral summit talks for Yoon with Ishiba and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Yoon’s summit with Xi, if realized, would be the first in two years since they met on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in November 2022.

The top office is also reportedly working to arrange a meeting between Yoon and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

At the APEC summit, Yoon will discuss cooperative measures for inclusive economic growth and support for vulnerable groups.

At the G-20 meetings, he will convey South Korea’s support for global efforts to alleviate hunger and poverty.
