California State Sen. Dave Min has won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, adding one more Korean American voice to the country’s legislature.

According to CNN and other media on Wednesday, Min, a Democrat, defeated Republican Scott Baugh and was poised to win the seat for California’s 47th Congressional District.

Min reportedly defeated Baugh by a narrow margin, with 50-point-nine percent of the votes.

He is one of the few Korean American lawmakers in the U.S.

Recently, Democratic Rep. Andy Kim became the first Korean American elected to the Senate, and Republican Rep. Young Kim secured a third term for California’s 40th Congressional District.

Min, a former law professor at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, has served in the California State Senate since 2020.

He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and Harvard Law School.
